Below is a list of all the projects/modificaions I've preformed to my LX200 setup. Feel free to do any of these yourself, but PLEASE NOTE: Some of the modifications WILL void your warranty!

To-Do list:

Part of my "Cord-Tangle Solution", this little project takes the micro-focus cable out of the tangle possibility. While doing this, it also makes focusing MUCH easier than using the Autostar II for focusing.

This project was inspired by a modification I found on several websites, although, a website called The Firmament (site down) had exactly what I needed without the need for an electronics degree. That site being down now, I have found another site that uses the same layout for this project, although he uses a different sized Variable Resistor. Scroll to near the bottom of This Page for a rough schematic of the project.

The parts list (for me at least) cost just under $20.00 (Excluding battery).

  • Small project box
  • DPDT (Momentary On-Off-Momentary On) Micro Switch
  • 1/8" Stereo jack (Only 2 positions used)
  • 100 Ohm Variable Resistor ("Fader" Potentiometer)
  • 9-Volt Battery plug
  • 9-Volt Battery

The Autostar was originally using 12 volt power (at full speed setting), however, I rarely used the full speed setting, so the 9 volt battery for this project is perfect!

I'm not going into the details of how to make this. I have no electronics knowledge, and I found it is a VERY simple project.

I highly recomended this project.
